It has been an eventful couple of weeks for me. Busy with work, taking in extra overtime, and major announcements that have me still spinning. I seem to take on more and more, but, that’s how I am. Things that have happened so far? The music show is taking off really nice, albeit we had to make some minor changes. Then there’s the major announcement that happened last Thursday that blew up big time. I was on the fence, but now, I think I’m sold on liking this concert. Wasn’t a big fan of the music, but I’ve come to like it. Also, my new project is taking off and coming out better than I expected. I’ll explain in more detail…
So I jumped onto the Dollfie bandwagon and now have one of my own. At first, I just really wanted to create something that I liked, and so I picked a character that I liked a lot. Little that I knew that she would grow on me so well. I have to thank my sister again for introducing me to the craziness of the whole ordeal, and of course, to the available outlets that let me be totally creative. I created a twitter account for the Dollfie after my sibling showed me her Dollfie’s own twitter. I was a little apprehensive about it at first, and thought that maybe I might be going too far… then it hit me while I was fooling around making both do silly scenes: I have a way of telling a story and bringing these dolls to life the way I want to. I promptly made a twitter account, which can be followed at @DollfieSuika, so that my Dollfie can have a voice. Over the course of the week, I realized that I use her account more often than I use my own, which I try to keep professional. Here, my own eccentricities and imagination can run wild (within reason, of course), and I can make my story on the fly.
Then I started thinking some more… Now I have a Facebook Page dedicated to her as well. I thought about adding a tab to this blog that would be just for her, but it made no sense to put her in a location that would otherwise be mostly ignored. Suika is loud, rambunctious, and loves to be around people. What better place than Facebook to cater to her needs? SO now I have a Facebook page just for her.
People have been helping me, since I was planning to purchase all the parts, in setting her up. A very good friend of mine and my sister’s helped by doing the Faceup (putting the details on an otherwise blank face), and I must say, from the sample pictures so far, I am astounded at how awesome a job she has done for me. I was literally jumping around excited after seeing the picture because she was so damn CUTE. I asked her to take pictures of the process so I have a record of the creation and build of the Dollfie. I want to chronicle her creation so others can find a good resource when they want to create their own Dollfies from scratch. I am also working on the Dollfie as well in making the additional parts she needs to be completed, such as the horns, the charms, the leather belt, and the Sake Gourd. I have another friend who is working on a life size version (aka Cosplay) of an alternate version of the same character. Her input is invaluable as well as it gives me ideas on how to create and manufacture the parts I need. the first subproject after the “Original” Suika Dollfie is completed will be to make the same version my friend is making.
I will be looking at how to set up the creation site, either putting it here and having it linked in as many places as possible, or just letting my sister, who has a very high visibility site, make the post with all the steps taken. I hope that together with everyone, we can look at making more of these projects to create other characters, and even some totally custom ones.
Ooh! I has an idea!
